Since 2004, GSHS has provided a
comprehensive vocational education program for students
seeking viable, real-life experience that will put them
at an advantage in the workforce.
This program is funded by a grant from the federal Workforce
Investment Act and Worcester’s City Manager Office. |

Our Vocational Education Program is unique among
special education schools. Designed to help our students succeed in
the workplace before and after their high school graduation, the “Voke”
Program incorporates academics with real-life skills experience.
Professional staff who are experts in their respective fields conduct
courses in Culinary Arts, Computer Skills, Health Sciences, Horticulture
and Carpentry. Transition and career outreach staff work closely with
students and families to identify strengths and interests, organize
paperwork, and arrange internships or paid employment.
In addition to career-specific skills classes, the GSHS Vocational
Education Program includes a General Skills class which covers topics
like resume writing, interviewing techniques, personal budgets and
banking.
Whether they go on to higher education, or choose to pursue a career
immediately after graduation, we want GSHS students to take essential
skills with them.
