G. Stanley Hall School is committed to considering
the whole student when assessing his or her individual needs. No two
students have exactly the same problems, background or goals. GSHS
works with parents, doctors, therapists and local school districts
to find an education/therapeutic program that will best educate and
treat each student.
Methods for addressing those needs vary from student to student, and
may include one or more of the following:
- On-site, integrated individual, family, and/or group therapy
- On-site nursing services
- Medication management, psychopharmacology
- On-site psychiatric consultation
- A social skills curriculum geared toward individual management
of feelings and behaviors
Groups currently running twice
weekly at GSHS include:
Anger Management
Stress Management
Social Skills
Coping Skills
Substance Abuse

Clinicians at GSHS use the emotional education curriculum “Thinking,
Feeling, Behaving.” It is based on concepts of cognitive-behavior
therapy and rational emotive behavior therapy. The groups focus on
five spheres of learning: self-acceptance; working with feelings;
connecting beliefs and behavior; problem solving and decision-making;
and interpersonal relationships.
